A Closer Look at the Prominent Barretto Family in Philippine Entertainment

The fascination with celebrity families in the Philippines predates the recent discourse on political dynasties and "nepo babies." Among the most renowned showbiz clans are the Gutierrezes, Eigenmanns, Padillas, and notably, the Barretto family.

The Barretto family is headed by Estrella "Inday" Barretto and her late husband Miguel, who passed away in 2019. Together, they had seven children: Miguel Antonio (known as "Mito"), Michelle, Jose Joaquin ("JJ"), Geraldine ("Gia"), Gretchen, Marjorie, and Claudine.

Several of their children, particularly Gretchen, Marjorie, and Claudine, are well-known actresses, with some of their descendants also pursuing public careers. Claudine, notable in the entertainment industry, had a relationship with her on-screen partner Rico Yan until his untimely death in 2002.
