President Marcos Orders DOJ and Ombudsman to Speed Up Probes on Bulacan Ghost Flood Control Projects

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. has issued a resolute directive to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Office of the Ombudsman to hasten investigations into the alleged ghost flood control projects in Bulacan province. This move underscores his "Maasahan at Masipag" leadership pledge—being reliable in accountability, tireless in integrity, and firm in upholding the rule of law.

Earlier this week, DOJ hearings commenced focusing on five identified ghost projects that have raised concerns over possible corruption, misuse of public funds, and delays that threaten public safety and flood mitigation efforts in the flood-prone Bulacan area.

To ensure a comprehensive probe and swift resolution, the DOJ and Ombudsman are collaborating closely with the Inter-Agency Committee on Infrastructure (ICI). This joint effort aims to strengthen fact-finding operations and expedite the legal processes necessary to hold those accountable.

In a statement, President Marcos stressed the importance of "lawful, transparent, and coordinated justice reforms" to address such criminal practices. He emphasized that all actions must be anchored in the rule of law to preserve public trust and institutional integrity.

"Our administration will not tolerate abuse of authority or misallocation of resources that compromise the welfare of our people. We remain steadfast in our resolve to enforce the law with fairness and transparency," President Marcos declared.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla echoed the President's stance, assuring that the DOJ is committed to expediting the investigation and prosecution phases without sacrificing due process.

"The ongoing hearings into the ghost projects are a testament to our resolve to ensure justice is served efficiently. We are working hand in hand with the Ombudsman and ICI to leave no stone unturned," Remulla said.

Likewise, Ombudsman Samuel Martires vowed to provide full support, urging agencies involved to cooperate fully to achieve a swift and just resolution.
