Iloilo City Police Confiscate 60 Grams of Shabu, Arrest High-Value Target in Mandurriao

Police forces in Iloilo City successfully seized approximately 60 grams of shabu from a high-value individual during an anti-drug operation conducted on November 19, 2025, in Barangay Navais, Mandurriao District at about 2:40 p.m. The operation was a collaborative effort involving the City Drug Enforcement Unit, Iloilo City Police Station 10, and the Regional Intelligence Unit of Western Visayas.

The suspect, identified only as alias Dev, 35, is considered a high-value target and was temporarily residing in Mandurriao. Law enforcement recovered eight heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected methamphetamine along with buy-bust money and other non-drug items.

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the teams involved for their diligence and successful enforcement actions. He remarked, "I commend the dedication of our operating units on the ground. This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to eradicate the drug menace in our communities and sends a strong warning to those who continue to engage in illegal activities."

General Ligan further urged the public to maintain vigilance and support anti-drug campaigns to foster a safer and drug-free environment.

The arrested suspect is currently in custody and will face formal charges under Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These violations carry severe penalties, including life imprisonment or death, and fines ranging from PHP 500,000 up to PHP 10 million as stipulated by law.
