Victor Perez has become the first French golfer to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf League, announcing his decision after withdrawing from the concluding PGA Tour event of the fall season. The 33-year-old was set to compete in the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club in Georgia but pulled out shortly before revealing his commitment to LIV Golf's Cleeks team for the 2026 season.

Currently ranked 120th worldwide, Perez was striving to retain his PGA Tour playing rights for the upcoming year. Positioned 108th in the fall points race, he needed a strong finish in the RSM Classic to break into the top 100 and secure full status for 2026.

However, by joining LIV Golf, Perez has rendered himself ineligible to participate in future PGA Tour events, following the organization’s policy implemented since the launch of the new series in June 2022.

Perez boasts three DP World Tour victories, including his latest win in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. On the PGA Tour, his best finish was a tie for ninth place at the Canadian Open in June.

Reflecting on his move, Perez stated, "LIV Golf’s innovation and energy are driving it forward. I’m excited to be part of that momentum and can’t wait to get started in Riyadh." He is scheduled to make his debut in the Riyadh event this coming February.
