LeBron James has stated he has no intention of representing the United States at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, despite the event taking place in his hometown. During an appearance on the "Mind the Game" podcast, the NBA veteran, now 40, remarked, "You already know my answer. I will be watching it."

James is expected to attend the competition held in Inglewood, where basketball will be a marquee event. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry, who also appeared on the podcast, shared similar sentiments about his participation, saying he doubts playing in a second Olympics.

Curry, also approaching 40 by the time of the Games, commented, "God willing, I still have the choice and physical option where I could impact the team. Never say never, but I highly doubt it. Highly doubt it."

LeBron James is currently preparing to return to the Los Angeles Lakers lineup after recovering from a sciatica injury. Over his Olympic career, James has earned four medals: a bronze in 2004 and gold medals in 2008, 2012, and 2024.

Stephen Curry, who debuted in Olympic competition during the 2024 Paris Games, was instrumental in securing Team USA's fifth consecutive gold medal. He led the team with averages of 14.8 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists across 23.3 minutes per game. His previous absences from the Olympics were due to injuries and extended NBA playoff commitments.

The 2028 Summer Olympics will mark a significant moment for basketball in Los Angeles, yet two of the sport's biggest names appear poised to watch the event rather than compete in it.
